In 2013 ANZHES established the Dictionary of Educational History in Australia and New Zealand (DEHANZ).
Intention of the Dictionary
One of the aims of ANZHES is to “collect and distribute information relating to study, teaching and research in all fields of the history of education”. With the possibilities inherent in new information technologies, this is easier to do than in the past. There is a gap between ANZHES’ publication of research (History of Education Review) and the dissemination of more accessible writing in the field. The Dictionary will rely on the voluntary contributions of scholars across the fields of educational, childhood and youth history. The Dictionary will start small, but over time is expected to develop as a comprehensive and reliable guide to all areas of educational history in Australia and New Zealand.
Invitation to contribute
Scholars of educational, childhood and youth history in New Zealand and Australia are invited to contribute ideas for entries, and entries in accordance with the guidelines below.
Guide lines for suggested entries
Entries between 500 and 3000 words are invited on the history of education in Australia and New Zealand that cover significant:
Entries should be written so that students from senior high school, and readers from that level in the public might easily understand the texts. If technical language and terms likely to be unfamiliar to such an audience are used, and that is to some degree inevitable, a glossary should be situated at the end of the entry.
